A new dawn

After a busy winter programme of recruitment and training sessions 2017 looks like being the most competitive season yet in the Sefton Softball League.

An influx of 10 new players means all 5 teams now have an even number of male and female players so the league has amended its regulations to remove the allowance for teams to play 6 male and 4 females in a team.

This influx of high quality of the new players means that all 5 teams look capable of beating each other and so anyone can win the League title this season.

2017 also sees the introduction of a new venue to allow for the possibility of expansion. Games are now played at Holy Family High School in Thornton, starting at 7pm on a Monday evening.

As in previous years the season opener on May 8th will be preceded by a one day round robin friendly tournament starting at 5:30 on Bank Holiday Monday May 1st.

New players are still welcome as the league looks to expand with the aim of forming a 6th team before the end of the season.
